Will jPCT join the competition ???
« on: May 05, 2008, 06:56:04 pm »
Hi!
First of all, my huge appreciation for all the effort put in making jPCT.

I have one question - would you like to join the recent competition between two most widely known 3D engines written in Java? I think it is a good idea to see if jPCT is an equivalent competitor. :)

Here are some details :

Not from my side, i'm afraid. I once ported that thing (but i've replaced the BSP-stuff with OcTrees to ease porting), but i've lost the sources. I won't do it again. I would rather spend my time to work on my game and the engine instead of joining that kind of contest, that is quite pointless anyway, because it tests one single setting only.

Jpct is the clear winner in code size and it's still pretty fast.  ;D  If you want to compare octree collision against bsp, then do that separately.  This is really the only feasible engine for online 3d games that I know about aside from Flash's paper thing.  I forget what it's called, but Flash is too much money.
