text to sign language

I took up a project on building an android app for converting text to sign language.
Can anyone plz help me out with d various approaches.Storing a list of words along wid d corresponding animated movements is the only thing dat strikes my mind all the time which i feel is very inefficient.

this has been asked before in this post. as written there, I now almost nothing about the subject but I guess it can be done by breaking words into simple gestures.
