Bones - Skeletal and Pose Animations for jPCT/jPCT-AE => Bones => Topic started by: AGP on August 10, 2012, 12:06:47 am

It seems that when I export the Cubix Studio male model (biped) with OgreMax it moves erratically up and down and the only solution that I could find is erasing the keyframes of the COM object. This way it stays still, but it looks wrong. I think that Bones is exaggerating the movements of the COM object, (say, if the COM moves up 0,5m Bones moves like 50m).
-
how does it look on OgreMax viewer?
-
Sorry for the delay, but I hate OgreMax WinViewer (for one thing, it forces me to export the model in binary). Maybe I'm doing something wrong in it, but it lists all my animations, seems to play them (counts the frames up), but I see no movement in OgreMax WinViewer.
-
then possibly there is something wrong with your exporting
-
I was doing something wrong: I was setting the animations to active. But OgreMax WinViewer is such a ridiculously lame viewer that I've no (proper) control over its camera. When the walk animation played, the character was translated down and I couldn't get near enough to see it (but it did move, and apparently not up and down).
-
I meant I was doing something wrong IN OGREMAX WINVIEWER. Bones is playing my animations wrong.
PS: I've sent you the model by e-mail for your inspection. I'll appreciate any help you may give me.
-
well first make sure the model and animation looks correct in OgreMax viewer.
btw I'm away from my computer for a few days
-
I did and it looks right. Bones is doing something wrong.
-
I'll have a look when I return the city
-
btw, r u sure you are using the last version? -at least I think so- I've fixed a similar problem
-
I wasn't using the latest version before, but I am now. Still broken.
-
PS: I've sent you the model by e-mail for your inspection. I'll appreciate any help you may give me.
I need the mesh.xml and skeleton.xml files, not the max file
-
That's very odd, seeing as how you have to have OgreMax, but I'll send them to you.
-
Yes, I have OgreMax. But what is odd? if you had a problem with some exported Obj file, would you send Obj file or max file?
-
I sent you the max files because the more complete test is before the export. Since we don't know exactly the problem, starting at the beginning makes sense, right? Nevertheless, I have just sent you the files. Thanks in advance.
-
well, at first look Bones and jME2 render the same animation. I need to go out now, tomorrow I will try it in OgreMax but I bet it will be the same.
It exactly matches your description in your email for Animation_Climb:
Translates out of position once, but the animation plays completely in the same place.
note: select a single animation in OgreSample, nor the all.
-
I've just tried your animations in OgreMax. It looks the same as I guessed. So the problem must be related to your exporting options.. Or may be the Max file itself, not sure..
And, next time please do not misdirect me by saying animation looks correct in OgreMax but not in Bones.
-
I didn't misdirect anybody and I'm not sure what you're saying. Are you saying you didn't see the problem or that you saw it on OgreMax WinViewer? Even if you saw a problem on the WinViewer, I'm sure it wasn't exactly the same as the one in Bones. I talked to the sometimes-helpful creator of OgreMax and he spotted a bug for when exporting mesh files under certain conditions.
-
what I'm saying is:
I saw a strange animation problem. But the problem is the same with OgreMax viewer, Bones and jME2. and that means, unless some 'improbability drive' is running around, the problem is caused by exporter, exporting options or whatever
..I'm sure it wasn't exactly the same as the one in Bones.
this is the misdirection I'm talking about. what was the difference again?
..I talked to the sometimes-helpful creator of OgreMax and he spotted a bug for when exporting mesh files under certain conditions.
if there is a problem with OgreMax exporter, then this would of course effect all players not only Bones
-
"this is the misdirection I'm talking about. what was the difference again?"
The difference, then, is in intensity, because it did look better in the WinViewer.
"if there is a problem with OgreMax exporter, then this would of course effect all players not only Bones"
I refer you to my previous answer. I appreciate that you're answering these questions for free, but in the future, a little more energy and less reluctance wouldn't hurt.
-
again, I saw no difference..
