I've switched from phpBB to SMF. I hope that everything is still working as expected. If you are missing something, please let me know.
-
You were using an old version of phpBB, so I suppose it had ot be done at some point.
My personal opinion is that phpBB is superior to all, including vBulletin, but this forum
looks pretty good.
The quotes look much clearer now, and I've never see anyone sucessfully
move PM's and posts from one forum to the other, so well done for that;)

It wasn't an old version of phpBB as the "new" version is still in beta. I had to do it because my host is going to upgrade to PHP5 and phpBB 2.0.X doesn't run very well (if at all) with it. This one is more powerful than phpBB (at least than the 2.x branch...don't know about the upcoming 3.x) IMHO. I like it.
The transition was easy: They offered a converter form phpBB to SMF. Simply run it and you are done.

My old host did that too Egon:).
I think they only enabled it for scripts with .php5 extension.
I would have thought upgrading, and potentially breaking the websites of their customers was a bad thing to do.
It would certainly have killed my game a few months back, when I used them.
I could have sworn it was an old version, but I know which forum I was thinking about now:).
It is nice. I just found the themes:)

I tried to add a more darker theme in addition for people who like it "dark"... ;) but i haven't done much searching yet. I took the first dark one that was available.

The smf home page have many themes for the SMF forums.

I know. It's just that i have to modify them to add the google-adsense stuff. That's why i'm not adding more of them ATM.
BTW: Congrats on your new born child!! ;D
(Oh, and your signature seems to be broken; the [url]-Tags looks corrupted. Don't know if this is caused by the transition, but maybe you want to fix it)

I noticed it, and changed it yesterday. It just looks like a slight bug in the convertor.
The url tag still works.
-
I've now deleted the old forum and dropped a .htaccess into the /forum-directory with some url rewrite conditions, so that most accesses should be rerouted by a 301 into the new forum. This should enable internal links in this forum to work correctly as well as external ones.

Thats handy, because Firefox is refusing to let me modify my bookmark of this forum:)
-
BTW: The ranking (based on the number of posts) in this forum is:
byte, int, long, float, double... ;)
