Animatable humanoid model
« on: June 01, 2008, 02:18:34 pm »
Hello,

Any ideas for where I might find an animatable 3D humanoid model suitable for JPCT? Preferably as generic as possible, not holding a gun and so on.

Cheers!

Use a search engine to find free 3D models.
jpct can do quite a few model types.

You can download a model of a woman by downloading an irrlicht example and getting the md2 model.

That's excellent! Thanks!

Any other clues for MD2 locations? :)

I have some on my local HD, but most of them suffer from the "gun-problem". You don't have to add the gun as it is a separate model, but some models looks strange then, because they are still holding the right and as if it where there.

I guess it depends how obvious it is that they're meant to be holding a gun :)

I don't suppose I can put in a request for an MD3 loader? I think they also use keyframe animation and they seem to be slightly more numerous around the web.

You, it's keyframed but with seperate objects of head, corpse and...something else that i've forgotten. I don't have the time to write a MD3-loader ATM, but if you are in desperate need for one right now, feel free to write (or port) one yourself. It shouldn't be to hard if the format is somehow similar to MD2.

I've uploaded a zip with some models (some already unzipped, some as zips in the zip) here: http://www.jpct.net/download/tmp/quake2_models.7z

I'll leave it up for some days.
