F*** off all you spammers!
« on: January 11, 2006, 12:15:44 am »
NOOO! This is not the right forum to advertise for pr0n, videos, dog collars, cars or whatever. Get lost, guys! I've to delete up to 10 messages/users A DAY since christmas. Just f*** off!!!

(Had to say this...i'm soooo sick of this spam)

BTW: That's the reason why the news-section has been locked. And i've put some mail-addresses on the ban-list. If you can't register with your address, please let me know...

everyone hates the spammers!!!!!, the news section should not have been bloqued, this happens in all the forums, if not in the news section, then in any other.

Can you give us the IP number of the spammer?
Nada por ahora

In theory, yes. But the spam robots seem to prefer the first forum they find without checking if it's allowed to post into it. At least, locking the news-forum helped to almost get rid of the annoying messages (but not of the spam registrations). IPs are from dial in or similar...nothing i could ban...

new version of phpbb have those visual validation stuff in it. where letters are generated with GD library and user needs to type in those on registration.
As 95% of the forumspammers are bots, they will fail there.
Well, this would mean, you need to disable anonymous posting, but I think that wouldn't be a problem.

... and you got fresh spam message in news section, in 3 hours after unblocking it. Looks as if spambots actually read announcements ;)

You have it easy:P

I made a forum for a small utility I made, and forgot to visit the site
for 3 month!:D

When I returned I had suffered a case of extreme bot spamming.
Its my own fault for not requiring people to register before posting:P

Because modern spam bots will register and fill in the captcha with ease. But since kittenAuth, it's no longer a problem.
